Required Education for New York Dental Assistants
Education to become a dental assistant in New York is usually available in two options. One-year certificates are a popular choice, while a two-year associate degree program will qualify you for a higher salary. Also those who hold an Associate degree are often eligible to apply with the state of New York for status as a Registered Dental Assistant. Another option is dental assistant certification, which can help dental assistants be more attractive to employers.
Financial Aid
Almost all colleges and vocational schools will offer forms of financial aid. Each person’s qualification status is dependent upon may personal factors. A FAFSA form should be completed and submitted to the school. Most students are eligible for a federal Stafford loan; this is a government loan with a very low interest rate which will not accrue while in school. Also free grants and scholarships are available to some students.
